*~*~*~*
Logan drove back to his house chewing on his thumbnail. While Abigail was sleeping, he had received a concerning text from a co-worker that they were about to lose a very large client. He was in charge of keeping that client on with the company. If the client decided to leave, someone would lose their job, and he worried it would be him. On the other side, if he could keep the client on, he would receive a major bonus and would be trusted in the future with several larger clients. It could potentially work in his favor, but the pressure he was going to be under was insurmountable.
He pulled into his driveway and grabbed his duffel bag out of his car, wandering into his house. Sighing and looking around, he wondered where he should continue with the remodel. He was ready to start a new room since all of his previous projects had been finished.
The library, he thought. Abi loves the library.
He walked into the room and looked around, debating on what to start on first. Deciding the floors would be the best since he needed to strip them, he gathered all of his supplies and started working. When Abigail had offered to help him today, he was tempted to take her up on it, but he knew he wouldnât be good company. Mulling over his work problems would keep his mind fairly occupied and the physical work on the house would keep his body occupied. He didnât want her to worry that she had done something wrong by his lack of conversation. And this was a problem he needed to figure out on his own. Plus, her poor feet needed a break.
He stripped the floors and sanded them. Afterward, he spent time wiping everything down to minimize the amount of dust in the space, since most of it had just been created by the floors. His goal was to finish this room for Abigail. He wanted her to love this space, a space that could possibly be hers one day. He smirked. He was certainly getting ahead of himself.
His phone buzzing interrupted the music he had been streaming. He glanced at the caller ID and saw his sisterâs name pop up. Forgetting about work temporarily, a smile lit his face.
âHey Angie! Howâs my favorite sister?â
Her laugh on the other end of the line immediately brightened his mood. âStressed out with my damn finance class.â
He could remember those days. Working on finance projects that some of the teachers gave seemed nearly impossible at the time. Now they were his daily job. He could easily do them in his sleep, so he always told his siblings if they needed help to call him.
âDo you need help?â
She sighed. âNot at the moment. I just wanted to take a break for a bit. What are you up to?â
He glanced around at the mess of the room which was still half covered in dust. He tossed the dirty rag in a bucket of water and went to his kitchen to grab a beer.
